Nexus Aero
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Nexus Aero apps and services use location information, user-entered data, local device storage and third-party weather or mapping services.
Last updated: 15 July 2026
1. Who we are
Nexus Aero develops practical aviation and ballooning software and digital tools.
For privacy questions, data requests or support, contact:
Nexus Aero

2. Apps covered by this policy
This policy currently covers the following Nexus Aero apps:
A future Nexus Aero app is covered by this policy only where the app links to this policy and its data use is described here. We will update this policy where a new app introduces materially different data use.
3. Information our apps may use
Location information
Some Nexus Aero apps use a selected location or, where you choose to use a current-location feature and grant device permission, your device location. Location is used to provide location-based weather, wind, mapping, drift or calculation functions.
Coordinates or location search information may be sent to third-party weather, mapping or geocoding services so that the requested app function can be completed.
Location searches
When you search for a town, place, launch site or coordinates, the search information may be sent to a geocoding or weather provider to find the location and return relevant data.
Weather and operational requests
Our apps may send selected coordinates, dates, times and forecast parameters to weather data providers in order to retrieve weather, wind, pressure, sunrise, sunset or other forecast information.
Information entered into the apps
You may enter operational information such as balloon registration, balloon profile data, equipment weights, passenger or pilot weight values, launch locations, thresholds and planning settings.
Where these values are used only for calculations or saved locally, Nexus Aero does not receive them on a central Nexus Aero server. Information is only sent to Nexus Aero where you actively choose to contact us or send information to us.
Support and correspondence
If you email Nexus Aero, join a testing programme or contact us for support, we may receive your name, email address and any information you choose to include in your message.
Technical information
Hosting providers, app stores and third-party data services may automatically process standard technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request time and service logs. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms and applicable law.
4. Local storage and saved app data
Some Nexus Aero apps use browser storage or local app storage to remember information on your device. This may include:
- favourite, recent or regular locations;
- saved balloon profiles and equipment values;
- app settings and operational thresholds;
- display preferences; and
- other locally saved app records or preferences.
This locally stored information generally remains on your device or in your browser and is not automatically uploaded to Nexus Aero.
You can normally remove locally stored information by using an app's clear or delete function, clearing the relevant browser or app data, or uninstalling the app.
5. Third-party services
Nexus Aero apps rely on third-party services to provide functions that we cannot provide entirely on-device. Depending on the app and version, these may include:
- weather and forecast data services, including Open-Meteo;
- location search and geocoding services;
- mapping and map-tile providers;
- embedded weather or radar services, such as Windy where displayed;
- web hosting and content delivery providers; and
- Google Play, Apple or other platform services when an app is distributed through those platforms.
When a feature contacts a third-party service, that provider may receive the information needed to answer the request, together with standard technical information such as your IP address. Nexus Aero does not control the independent privacy practices of those providers.
6. How we use information
Information is used only where reasonably necessary to:
- provide the app feature or information requested by the user;
- return weather, map, location or operational data;
- remember locally saved settings and app information;
- respond to support requests and enquiries;
- investigate faults, security issues or misuse; and
- improve and maintain Nexus Aero apps.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use information collected through these apps for targeted advertising.
7. Lawful basis
Where UK data protection law applies, Nexus Aero processes personal data on the basis that the processing is necessary to provide a feature or service requested by the user, for our legitimate interests in operating, securing and supporting our apps, or with consent where consent is required.
Current device location is only requested through location-enabled features. You can refuse or withdraw device location permission through your browser or device settings, although location-based functions may then be unavailable or require a manually selected location.
8. Sharing of information
We may share or transmit limited information to service providers where this is necessary to provide the app feature you requested, host our services, distribute an app, maintain security or comply with the law.
We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
9. International processing
Some third-party service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where Nexus Aero directly engages a provider to process personal data on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to use providers and arrangements that support lawful international data transfers.
Independent third-party services may operate under their own international data-transfer arrangements and privacy policies.
10. How long information is kept
Local app data remains on your device until it is deleted through the app, browser or device, or until the app is uninstalled or its storage is cleared.
Support and correspondence records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the enquiry, maintain an appropriate support history, resolve a dispute, protect the security of our services or meet a legal obligation. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably needed.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect information handled by Nexus Aero. However, no internet, device or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Keeping most user preferences and operational records locally reduces the amount of user-entered information held centrally by Nexus Aero.
12. Children
The apps covered by this policy are aviation, planning and operational tools and are not designed for children under 13. Nexus Aero does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 through these apps.
13. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- ask for access to personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate personal data;
- ask us to delete personal data;
- ask us to restrict processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To make a privacy request, email [email protected].
You also have the right to raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Information about making a data protection complaint is available at ico.org.uk.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when an app, service, provider or legal requirement changes. The latest version will be published on the Nexus Aero website and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
